1. About ECO Mode

ECO Mode is a power-saving mode that DS-600 switches to when it has been idle for a specified period of time. When in ECO Mode, USB Bus power is switched off to save power.
With ECO Mode enabled, you can save power for DS-600 and the connected USB devices.

2. Turning on ECO Mode setting

ECO Mode can be enabled or disabled. Also, the amount of time before switching to ECO Mode can be specified.

Access the Web page of DS-600. For how to display the Web page of DS-600, refer to Accessing the Web Configuration Page.

The login page is displayed. Enter the password for DS-600 and click Login. By default, no password is configured to DS-600.

The Web page of DS-600 is displayed. From the left menu on the Web page, click Maintenance - ECO Mode.

The ECO Mode Configuration page is displayed. Configure each setting and click Submit. Name Details Default Power Save Mode If DS-600 is idle for the specified amount of time, it will automatically switch into ECO mode. When the USB device connection utility is started or DS-600 is accessed for a particular purpose, DS-600 will automatically wake up from ECO mode. DISABLE Power Save Shift Time(min) Specify the amount of time until DS-600 switches into ECO mode, when the ECO mode setting is enabled (min). 10

The Restart page is displayed. Click Restart to restart DS-600. The changes will take effect after restart.

When the login page is displayed, the reboot is completed. Finish the Web browser.

3. Conditions to start ECO Mode

DS-600 will switch to ECO Mode when it is idle for a certain period of time specified by ECO Mode Shift Time (minutes) and the following conditions are met:

• ECO Mode is set to ENABLE.
• SX Virtual Link is not running on the network DS-600 is connected to.
• Printing using the print server feature is not performed.
• USB device is not running as NAS.

Because SX Virtual Link regularly communicates with DS-600, DS-600 will not switch to ECO Mode if SX Virtual Link is running. To start ECO Mode, shut down all computers with SX Virtual Link installed or close SX Virtual Link on each computer. If printing using the print server feature is performed, DS-600 will wake up from ECO Mode.

4. Conditions to finish ECO Mode

ECO Mode will finish in the following conditions.
Once ECO Mode is finished, the USB Bus power will automatically be enabled on DS-600.

• SX Virtual Link is running on the network DS-600 is connected to.
• Printing using the print server feature is performed.
